What a ‘Fix-It Task’ Can (and Can’t) Solve

Fix-It tasks are one of the standout features of Farm 6 Hosting’s managed plans, a set number of small maintenance and troubleshooting requests handled directly by our team each month, without needing to figure out the fix yourself or hire outside help. But like any included service, it helps to understand exactly what falls within scope, so you can use it well and know when a request might need a different kind of solution.

What a Fix-It Task Actually Is

A Fix-It task is a defined, relatively contained request that our team completes on your behalf as part of your managed hosting plan. Rather than you needing to log in, diagnose an issue, and implement a fix yourself, you simply describe what needs attention, and we handle it. Each managed tier includes a set number of these per month, intended to cover the kind of routine maintenance and small troubleshooting that would otherwise sit on your own to-do list indefinitely.

Common Examples of What Fix-It Tasks Cover

Fixing a broken plugin or resolving a plugin conflict causing an error or unexpected behavior on your site.

Adjusting a setting within WordPress, a plugin, or cPanel that you are not confident changing yourself.

Investigating and resolving an error message, such as a 500 error or a broken page, including checking error logs and identifying the underlying cause.

Restoring a page or piece of content that was accidentally deleted or altered, from a recent backup.

Setting up a redirect for a page that has moved or been removed.

Adjusting email settings, such as setting up a new forwarder or troubleshooting a mailbox not receiving mail correctly.

Applying a specific plugin or theme update that you would rather have handled directly, especially one you are hesitant to apply yourself.

Basic DNS adjustments, such as adding a record for a third-party service you are connecting to your domain.

What Typically Falls Outside a Fix-It Task

Fix-It tasks are designed for routine, relatively contained work, not larger projects. Things generally outside scope include full website redesigns or significant new feature development, extensive custom coding work, building entirely new pages or sections from scratch, and large-scale content migrations or rewrites.

These larger projects are usually better suited to a dedicated project quote, either through Farm 6 Hosting’s broader services or a developer, since they involve a different scale of time and planning than a routine maintenance request.

How to Get the Most Out of Your Included Tasks

Being specific when submitting a request helps us resolve it quickly and efficiently: describe exactly what you are seeing (an error message, a page that looks wrong, a feature that stopped working), when it started, and any recent changes you are aware of, such as a new plugin installed shortly before the issue appeared. The more context provided upfront, the less back-and-forth needed to resolve it.

What Happens If a Request Is Larger Than a Fix-It Task

If a request turns out to be more involved than a typical Fix-It task, a larger redesign masquerading as a “small fix,” for example, we will let you know upfront rather than starting work and surprising you later. In these cases, we will provide a clear scope and, if needed, a separate quote, so you can decide how you would like to proceed with full visibility into what is involved.

What Happens If You Use All Your Included Tasks in a Month

If you have a particularly busy month and use your full allotment of Fix-It tasks before the month ends, additional requests can typically still be completed at a reasonable per-task rate, or you can wait until your allotment resets the following month if the request is not urgent. We will always let you know clearly where you stand before proceeding with anything outside your included allotment.

Why This Feature Exists

The idea behind Fix-It tasks is simple: most small business website issues are not complicated to fix for someone who does this daily, but they can be time-consuming and stressful for a business owner trying to figure it out alongside everything else running a business involves. Fix-It tasks exist to close that gap directly, turning “I need to find time to deal with this” into “I’ll just ask Farm 6 Hosting to handle it.”

Making the Most of This as a Managed Customer

If you are on a managed plan and have not been using your included Fix-It tasks regularly, it is worth reviewing your site periodically with this feature specifically in mind, small annoyances, outdated content, minor bugs, are exactly the kind of thing worth clearing off your list rather than living with indefinitely.
